In 1989, a Costa Rican fisherman named Chico saved a dying Crocodile and nursed it back to health.


After the Crocodile recovered, Chico tried to release him back into the wild, but it just kept coming back to him. They ended up becoming best friends, a friendship that lasted for two decades.

Chito would swim with the Crocodile in the river outside his home. He hugged and kissed the Croc every day and taught the 16-foot-long monster named Pocho how to do tricks. He taught him to roll over, wink and would let Chito put his head in his mouth. Pocho was even smart enough to respond when his name was called. The Crocodile sadly died in 2011 after an amazing two decade-long friendship.
