In 2020, a Mexican woman named Leonora R. stabbed her husband, Juan, after discovering pictures on his phone that seemed to show him with another woman. 

However, these images were actually just old photos of Leonora and Juan from their dating days. Leonora, not recognizing her younger self due to her age, weight, and makeup, attacked Juan multiple times. 

Despite sustaining severe injuries, Juan survived the incident.

The incident took place in the municipality of Cajeme, Sonora, Mexico. The authorities were alerted to the situation by neighbors who reported hearing screams and shouting from the couple’s home. Upon arrival, the police found Juan with multiple stab wounds on his arms and legs.

Juan managed to disarm Leonora during the attack and asked her about the photos that had incited her rage. It was then that he explained to her that the woman in the photos was actually Leonora herself, taken years earlier when they were just dating. Leonora reportedly didn’t recognize herself in the photos because the woman depicted was younger, thinner, and wearing makeup.

After the incident, Leonora was taken into custody and remains behind bars pending charges. The case has been referred to the Public Ministry of the State Attorney General’s Office. The extent of Juan’s injuries have not been disclosed by officials, but he is expected to survive.
