Things you do to frighten a cougar/mountain lion away, won’t work on an African lion. Sure you might look big and make noise to frighten off a mountain lion.

When you do that shit at a male African lion, contrary to what the internet tells you, you’re asking for a fight. Not only is it a fight that you will loose. If you’re one of the rare people that lives, you’ll still wish you were dead. Lion saliva is ripe with bacterial species most commonly found in animal bite wounds including Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas sp., and Streptococcus sp., P. multocida. Because the bite from a lion will inject these pathogens deep inside you, you need to avoid getting bit when confronted

You should shoot the lion with something .375 H&H mag or bigger. It’s either that or you become lion food
